Teka – Compression Fracture & Paralysis

Teka, Scottish Terrier – Compression Fracture of the Sacral Spine Vertebrae and Paralysis

Teka, this sweet 6 years old Scottish Terrier, was playing on the balcony and fell of the 1st storey, breaking her spine and her hips, suffering from a partial paralysis of the lower extremities. The bone fragments inside the sacral spine canal that were compressing her nerves (causing the paraparalysis) were too small to be surgically removed without risks.

The painkillers and anti-inflammatory drugs were causing a intense diarrhoea.

Teka’s conditions were treated with acupuncture and she came off the drugs. Her diarrhoea ceased, her pain decreased to a bearable level and she returned to nearly normal walking quickly.  After 3 treatments, she was back to her normal life.  This was one of the more immediate responses I have achieved.

We had a Scottish Terrier named Teka, she was very affectionate and ‘smiley’. One day she fell off the first storey balcony and injured her spinal cord. She became paralysed and could not move without help. Even like that she was still smiley and brave. We firstly tried to treat her with conventional drugs, with no results and then we started the treatment with Dr. Flavia.

After 2 weeks of intense work/treatment, we had wonderful results. In the first week we already could notice pain control and more strength in her legs. In the second week we were so happy to see her (still struggling but) walking again. After 3 weeks of treatment, she was practically back to normal life.

We have lots to thank Dr. Flavia to her affection towards Teka, and professionalism, and mainly, her competency during the whole treatment. She helped bringing back Teka’s happiness. It’s a shame we don’t have Flavia in Brasil anymore to help our dogs. Now, the Aussies are happy!
